The Quamish Residence is oriented to capture expansive views of the Austin Nature Preserve and downtown Spokane while maintaining privacy from the busy Quamish Drive.
Early in the design process, the views emerged as the defining opportunity, shaping both the site strategy and interior organization.
The client-provided program was carefully arranged to shield private spaces from the street while opening primary living areas and the main bedroom toward the south, where views could be fully realized without compromising privacy.
This clear separation of public and private zones allows the home to engage the surrounding landscape while remaining protected from nearby traffic.
The result is a residence that balances openness and seclusion, using thoughtful planning and orientation to turn a challenging frontage condition into a defining design feature.
